9March2012 Friday -- Lessons
and Talent Show

In the morning we were having lecture lessons on strength of material (SOM), which we
had to reach class by 9am in room 05-05. We had to wake up early for breakfast
before heading to the study block for lessons. The weather today was colder
than yesterday as the temperature decreases to 7⁰C. In the
beginning, we were having some introduction of what are we learning from
chapter to chapter and start to do some tutorial which most of us study during
the first semester in year one. Everyone was having difficulties on doing the 5
questions. After a short break, our teacher started to do some samples to
explain more detailed to us as we don’t understand. I think it is a good idea
to do sample revision to recall our memories on how to solve the questions. At
11.30am, we went canteen to try some food and hope that some local students
could help us. Hopefully, there was a student that taught us how to order the
food and how to pay by flashing the student card. I think it is good to use
this card to pay for our meals in school as it is more convenient and it is
like our ezlink card in Singapore. As we don’t really know what is the dish is,
so we called the local students to order the same food as them to try. After
ordering, it came out to be their spicy vegetable soup (冒菜汤) like a mini
spicy vegetable steamboat and it does not taste really nice. The rice and
dishes were paid separately and the rice was 0.30 RMB. While eating our lunch,
we managed to meet our china friends in the canteen. They actually went to look
for us as our lesson end early so they missed us and met in the canteen. They
were so kind that they went to take hot soup for everyone and helped us when we
need them. After this awful lunch, went back to class for tutorial lessons.
Below our classroom, there is a cute baby which is around 2 years old. After
lessons, went back to hostel for a warm milk tea which just below our hostel
and there is a baby in the shop. We were supposed to stay in the room to wait
for the local students to help us installed internet as there were many
problems to go other web. After the installation of the internet, the local
china students take us out to eat dinner under the teacher’s hostel. The food
that we ordered was nice and it costs us 7 RMB each. I ate Yang Zhou Fried Rice and the Guan Tang Bao is like our Singapore’s Xiao Long Bao. After dinner walk around with the
students at the park in school and knew a lot kind of flowers in school. We
were also told that when we clapped our hands, the fish in the pond will came
up which have plenty of goldfish in it. There is a duck river just outside our
school and mostly couples went there for a walk. Before going for the talent
show, we exchanged numbers with the local students and take some group photos.
The performance for the talent show was so fun and I had a great day that
night. Although after the performance it was already 9.30pm, the whole school
was so dark and cold that we could not find the way back to the hostel. We had
to get up early on 10March as we were heading for city tour around Chengdu. As
we planned to meet the local students to go out after the tour and hopefully we
can made it.
