20March2012 Tuesday – Dance competition, “Mahjong” and Clay pot Rice

The Day of OH MY GUAN YING MA! Rather than OH MY GOD!

Had lessons in the morning when last night can’t even have the internet and was not working. Internet was our life as we need the internet to do our works and chatted with our family members. Today’s lessons were on chapter3 again, Mr Lim continued with the remained slides and did our tutorials. As Mr Lim just taught us on the chapter so we were allowed to pass
up the tutorial within the week. After our lunch with my classmates, went to
buy some drinks from the mini mart. All the girls ate very healthy lunch today;
we ate vegetable fried rice with less salt and less oil. The fried rice really
tasted very plain with a very strong vegetable smell that we went to ask for
some soya sauce and that’s the healthiest food ever in china.. Before heading back for lessons, we went to the soccer field to support our china friends (Hou Jing & Deng Xiao Shan)
as they were chosen in the dance competition. They had been practicing day and night for
this day; the field was crowded with lots of students. Some of our classmates
also went to take a look on the competition. Because of some errors in the
music, they got 4th in place. After the competition, we were almost
late for the IS lesson on Chinese chess. The Chinese teacher (潭和平) started to talk about the history on how Chinese chess were form and found in the past. After talking about the history, he told us all the character in the chess and how do we play. After the explanation, we
were grouped by our own to play. While we were playing, Mr. Nick taught us to play mahjong with Chinese chess pieces. There were three kingdoms in the game and red was the largest in the game. The three kingdoms were 车马炮 (car, horse, and canon), 兵 (soldiers), 将士象 (general, guard, elephant). After the lesson, went back to hostel to do our tutorials. Around 6+pm went to the teacher’s hostel for dinner. They sold clay pot rice, noodles and there were also delivery
service. The clay pot rice had soup in it and it cost 7RMB. After the clay pot
rice, went to a new milk tea and fruits shop for some hot drinks and desserts.
While drinking our hot drinks, the local students went to our room to talk with
us when the internet was not working again.
