Almost everyone was late and we had to leave school late to the factory. Our class was
separated to 2 groups, 8 students took van and the others took Sichuan School
Bus to the factory. The bus was a very old version of bus that found in rural
places and the seat was so cold because it was made of plastic with no cushion.
More than half of the class took the freezing seat for 2hours before reaching
the factory. The factory name is FAW-VOLKSWAGEN AUTOMOTIVE CO.LTD. In the
factory, we were not allowed to take photos and all the information and notices
were all in Chinese or German. They show us how the machine works and by using
metal sheet were able to make the parts. We also had to walk through the whole
building to see how the machine weld the parts together and there were also
manual welding too. Some of the parts were made of strong metal sheet that
undergoes many procedures before it can be so strong. One part of the car parts
could re-stand one ton of weight on it because of the material they used. After
the factory, went to a school’s workshop for a look and learn how the students
do their practical. The school was Sichuan Aerospace Vocational and Technical
College Department of Practice Teaching. In the workshop I had learn that the local students don’t wear safety goggles or safety equipment when doing practical. After looking the workshop,
some of the students went out for lunch with our school. The restaurant for
lunch was at Long Quan yi which located in Chengdu but not in the main Chengdu
town. There were still 20km away from the Chengdu main town. The lunch was 150
RMB, not a single was left. The food from the restaurant was good; it tasted
similar to Singapore’s flavor. After the lunch, went to an ancient town near to
the restaurant. In the ancient town, there were games stall, photo shop,
snacks, drinks, shows, etc. the first thing we did was to play the games (10
RMB) and no one got the big prize. After those games, went to watch a 4D show
(Mummy, 木乃伊). The show was boring and it cost 10 RMB for
10 minutes. After walking for few stall, another 4D show shop look nicer than
the first one. There were a lot of weird stall like a museum for all the living
wild animals. The shop has snacks, sea turtle, crocodile and sharks. Some of
the classmates bought baby cockroach and scorpions to try. The most famous
stall was the candy floss stalls that selling beautiful candy floss flower with
many colors. There was also a lady demonstrate how she do a glass high heels by
burning a glass rod. I bought a shoe for 59 RMB and its design was not seen in
Singapore. Travel back school for dinner at opposite our hostel room at level2.
Went meeting with the English association students and went for dessert outside
school at the village for glutinous rice ball (汤圆). The
traditional Sichuan glutinous rice ball soup had to add rice wine in to add fragrant
to it. In Singapore, there isn’t rice wine is added to it and it ill smell sour
and weird. After desserts, went for dance practice with the local students at
level1 and level2 of the study building. 9.15pm went back to hostel for journal
but there isn’t any internet. Everyone doesn’t have internet to again.
